The problem is: you don’t even know how or where to begin.
WRITE LETTERS !
As parents, knowing how your child is progressing socially and academically is paramount. To know for certain, you have to be hands-on and the lines of communication must remain open.
Being a hands-on and involved parent lets your child know that not only do you care, but that you’re aware of their struggles and strengths. Kids ALWAYS want to know that their parents are there for them to share their successes and to give advice.
No more being shut out of what’s going on in your child’s world. Write letters to each other and keep the lines of communication open.
The go to journal for communication between parents and children to share key milestones and experiences.
Aside from knowing what’s going on in your child’s social life, another issue parents have is knowing their child’s academic strengths and struggles. You may ask them or their teachers, but there’s nothing like knowing for yourself. How do you determine this if you can’t be around them constantly in both social and academic settings?
The Write To Me Journal was created to keep the lines of communication open between parents and their child by writing letters to each other.
With this journal, you’ll remain aware of your child’s social and academic development; and your child will improve upon several academic skills without direct instruction, but solely based on your effective modeling via your letters to them.
By using this journal, your child will develop the following skills:
letter writing: parts of and format of a letter;
handwriting: letter formation, word spacing, and writing from margin to margin;
thought development: staying on topic and providing complete thoughts;
grammar and mechanics: subject verb agreement and proper punctuation usage;
spelling and reading
The Beginner Journal is designed for children in Pre-K and Kindergarten. The writing lines feature green and red go and stop lines with blue dotted center guide lines. The child is also able to draw a picture to further express themselves, as they typically prefer drawing.
The Advanced Journal is designed for children grades 4th - 5th. It features two full pages for both adult and child. Children are older and should be writing multiple paragraphs. The format in this journal allows for more in-depth communication between both adult and child.
Each journal includes resource pages of high frequency or frequently misspelled words, number practice, either print or cursive alphabet practice, lists of the days of the week, months of the year, number words, and seasons.
PARENTS: Keep these journals over the years to document great moments in your child’s life.
TEACHERS: Use these journals for intervention, skill development, and tracking progress.
CHILDREN: Look back on communication growth over time.
